A.W. Tozer was, well if you don’t know who he was go here. In this newest book Delighting in God, well lets be honest it isn’t new but a compilation of sermons that are intended to be a follow up to The Knowledge of the Holy. To be honest I haven’t read a book by Tozer because well, I wasn’t ready. This guy, I mean he is crazy smart and his love and passion for God is …. just wow.
All if that being said I am so glad I finally read something by Tozer. Which then leads me to I can’t wait to read more now. I know that all of these sermons were done before Tozer’s death, but wow any one of these could have been spoken on at my church this past Sunday.
My favorite part of this whole book is actually something Erik and I have been talking about a lot lately…. how we as Christians keep forgetting how Holy God is. We will never comprehend His love, vastness, or even reasons why he does what he does. I drank some of Tozer’s words in and it just made me want to run to my Bible and get close with God again. One of my favorite quotes:
….Let me say this clearly: I would not bow on my knees to that kind of God. The God that can get me on my knees has to be infinitely higher than I am. Pg 158
There were just so many things like that in this book. I am not sure if Erik got tired of me saying “Hold on let me read this part to you!” So I really liked this book and can’t wait to read more by Tozer now.
