Everyday Detox by Megan Gilmore looked like it would be a good starting cookbook for my family. We are really working hard at trying to eliminate processed food from our diets but this is definitively a marathon people!!
I couldn’t try some of the juices since I do not have a juicer anymore but I must say the strawberry basil smoothie was pretty good. I also enjoyed the stuffed sweet potatoes. ( I do love a good sweet potato)
My biggest beef with cookbooks is usually the pictures (or lack thereof). I felt with Everyday Detox some of the pictures were of recipes I didn’t need to see yet I was craving to see a bunch that didn’t have pictures. Also if you are going to put meat into your chart as part of the detox please feel free to have just a couple of meat recipes to go along with the chart.
Overall the recipes were simple and not complicated. While I am not sure about the science behind food combinations and gut cleansing, there is always room for more veggies and fruit in one’s diet.
