When Her Friend Goes Missing,
Every Minute Counts
Darcy St. James returns to Alaska to join a journalist friend undercover on the trail of a big story. But when Darcy arrives, she finds her friend has disappeared. Troubled by the cruise ship’s vague explanation, Darcy uses her cover as a travel reporter to investigate further.
The last person Gage McKenna expects to see during his summer aboard a cruise ship leading adventure excursions is Darcy. And in typical Darcy fashion, she’s digging up more trouble.
He’d love to just forget her–but something won’t let him. And he can’t help but worry about her as they are heading into more remote regions of Alaska and eventually into foreign waters. Something sinister is going on, and the deeper they push, the more Gage fears they’ve only discovered the tip of the iceberg.
My poor kids. Rarely do I squeal. I am a tough tomboy type, squealing isn’t in my nature. Well when I got Dani Pettrey’s new book Stranded, I squealed…… loudly. My kids looked at me like I was nuts. Maybe they are right 😉
I really liked Dani Pettrey before I read Stranded. Now I love her!! This Alaskan Courage Series keeps getting better and there are still two books to go! So, Stranded starts out about five months after Shattered ended. Gage and Darcy have had no contact since then but they, of course, are still thinking of one another.
They are thrown back together on a cruise ship where Gage is leading excursions and Darcy is attempting to locate her missing friend. Gage is still pretty skeptical of Darcy and her “undercover ways” as a reporter and Darcy is just trying to make him see that her motives are pure. This whole book is just non stop from beginning to end and easily Pettrey’s best to date.
In my opinion, Christian Adventure is one of the hardest things to get right. It is one of those things that has to be in the world but not of it. It can be a fine line to walk. Pettrey walks that line with such grace. She brings in heavy topics into her books but her characters stand strong in the face of danger and adversity. She has a gift. I will admit though my favorite part of the book (which does not have anything to do with the story line) was when Gage was reading in his room. He was actually reading my favorite non christian author!!!
Dani Pettrey is an author that SHOULD NOT be missed. She has the right balance of adventure, action, and romance to make me want to keep reading. She may be one of the very few authors I would give five stars too.
I received this book from Bethany House Publishing in exchange for my honest review.
