After a devastating heartbreak three years ago, genealogist and historical village owner Nora Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far safer than romance in the here and now.
Unlike Nora, former Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100 percent focused on the present. But when he’s diagnosed with an inherited condition, he’s forced to dig into the secrets of his past and his adoption as an infant, enlisting Nora to help him uncover the identity of his birth mother.
The more time they spend together, the more this pair of opposites suspects they just might be a perfect match. However, John’s already dating someone and Nora’s not sure she’s ready to trade her crushes on fictional heroes for the risks of a real relationship. Finding the answers they’re seeking will test the limits of their identity, their faith, and their devotion to one another.
Becky Wade’s newest book True to You is probably her best book to date. As someone who as read all of Wade’s books that is definitely saying something. Wade has an undeniable talent of creating strong women characters that don’t take away from strong male characters.
I really liked Nora. She was smart and resourceful with just enough vulnerability that kept her real and believable. I myself adore history, so I appreciated Nora’s love for genealogy and quest to preserve the historical town she lived in.
John is a leading man that I would definitely like to read more about. His quiet yet strong personality was a refreshing change in contemporary Christian fiction. I found John’s story to truly be a story of God taking something bad and using it for good.
Wade wrote a really good story in True to You. There was a wonderful array of characters and a plot twist that I really didn’t see coming. What I love about Wade’s writing though is that the ending isn’t always tied up in a pretty bow. Sometimes its still messy…..just like life.
This was a strong start to Wade’s new series. I am very excited to read the rest of this series!
