Maple Valley became Amelia Bentley’s haven after her heart and her dreams of a family were shattered, but her new life as a newspaper editor is shaken when the paper is bought out by a chain that plans to incorporate it into a regional paper.
After his biggest campaign success yet, speechwriter Logan Walker is approached to work on a presidential campaign. But he already lost his wife three years ago, and saying yes to the job means he’ll see his young daughter even less. When Logan hears of a special election campaign in his hometown, helping out sounds like the perfect way to occupy himself while deciding what to do.
When Amelia hears Logan is back in town, she begs him to lend his previous experience in the newspaper world to help turn her paper’s numbers around in time. They may butt heads more than they expected, but a lead on a story that could help save the paper is just the start of the sparks that fly in the office and in their hearts.
Melissa Tagg’s newest book Like Never Before is the second book in the Walker Family Series. In this book we dig into Logan and Amelia’s story. (Oh and Charlie cause you can’t be a single parent without an adorable kid)
Melissa Tagg writes contemporary Christian fiction which in my opinion is one of the hardest genres to write in today. That being said, I like Tagg’s writing style. Its fun, quirky, and I always feel like someone in my life could say some of the lines from this book. She has real characters with real problems that people face today.
I liked Amelia and Logan. I really love the whole Walker Family dynamic. (I was really excited to see Beckett come back) I liked how Logan and Amelia both struggled with their faith. As weird as that sounds, it is refreshing because, if we are honest we all struggle sometimes trying to figure out what God wants. I will admit that Logan may be one of my favs because of the sweet stuff he does for Amelia.
Now there was a decent amount of kissing and Amelia seemed to have a problem with falling asleep in compromising areas. I am just warning you in case you are sensitive to that. Plus (and I wont spoil it) how the book ended left me wondering how they were going to handle their situation.
Overall you are reading a contemporary romance and should be prepared for romance. While this book was good, the first in the series is still my favorite. I look forward to seeing who Tagg writes about next. Will it be Beckett or Rae??
